Project Description
Constructed in 1933, Brooklyn Technical High School is a New York City landmark and the largest high school in the United States. Bladykas Engineering provided comprehensive MEP design and construction administration services for the modernization of the central heating plant within this massive 594,000-square-foot facility.
We engineered and oversaw the complete replacement of the aging infrastructure with three new 400 HP, low-pressure steam, field-erected steel fire tube boilers. Our team managed the technical conversion of the facility from high-pressure to low-pressure steam and the transition from No. 6 fuel oil to natural gas. Through the construction phase, we monitored the demolition of fuel oil storage tanks and the installation of critical systems, including vacuum condensate recovery units, blow-down separators, breeching, chimney liners, and updated mechanical room lighting.
