Project Description

This project involved the replacement of underground medium pressure steam, steam condensate, fire protection water, domestic water, electrical power and telephone utilities serving the Nurse’s Residence building at Phelps Hospital. Bladykas Engineering designed a new gasfired domestic water heating system, and provided a temporary boiler to provide heat and domestic hot water to the building while the steam lines were being replaced. The steam and condensate piping system utilized pre-engineered, factory pre-insulated piping with an HDPE jacket. The project required the underground utilities to traverse a steep incline of nearly 100% grade.
