Project Description

The scope of this project involved relocating existing 13.8 KV overhead primary electrical service cables that fed the entire hospital campus (and adjacent nursing home) with new 13.8 KV redundant underground primary electric service conductors in two concrete ductbanks. The work included two new PME-5 padmounted distribution and load break switchgear, four new 13.8 KV tee-tap boxes, duct banks, primary cables and connection to a Con Edison 13.8 KV automatic transfer switch. The work was coordinated with the Con Edison field representative to minimize power disruption to the Hospital, as well as with the Hospital senior management to minimize disruption to the traffic flow, roadways and parking at the Hospital. This project was the first phase of a multi-phase project to construct new buildings on campus and to transform the Phelps Memorial Hospital Center.
