Project Description
For this project at PS 36X in Bronx, NY, Bladykas Engineering was tasked with replacing the fire alarm system, public address system, and auxiliary bell system within the building. Our process involved conducting a code analysis to properly place the fire alarm devices, followed by the submission of a schematic design, design development, and finally the complete design to the School Construction Authority (SCA) for review.
Considering the building’s historical background, with its construction dating back to 1901 and its unique Terra Cotta walls, our team had to specify special supports for the conduits and equipment. Given that the building remained operational during the renovation, it was crucial to phase the project in such a way that allowed the existing fire alarm system to remain functional until the new system was successfully tested and accepted. Our approach to this project was carefully tailored to meet the specific needs and constraints of the building.
