Project Description
In this project, Bladykas Engineering played a pivotal role in transforming a 19th-century paper mill into an 89-unit senior citizen affordable rental facility. The team provided comprehensive engineering design services, including the installation of new electric, gas, and cable TV services, as well as a new boiler and heating system, plumbing, interior and exterior lighting, power distribution, and fire protection systems.
The unique architecture of mills, with their vast open floor plans, minimal interior obstructions, and abundant windows, makes them ideal candidates for adaptive reuse projects such as this one. This successful transformation not only serves the community by providing affordable housing options for senior citizens but also stands as a testament to the preservation of old industrial buildings in the Hudson Valley.
