Project Description

Built in 1933, Brooklyn Technical High School spans 594,000 square feet across nine stories. For this project, Bladykas Engineering conducted a comprehensive scope report for the replacement of the school’s existing boilers with three new 400 HP, low-pressure steam, field-erected, steel fire tube boilers. The scope of work also included the removal of fuel oil storage tanks, piping, and pumps, as well as the replacement of vacuum condensate recovery units, boiler blowdown separator, and the installation of a new natural gas service, breeching, and chimney liner, along with painting and new lighting. Additionally, the project evaluated the feasibility of transitioning from high-pressure to low-pressure steam, as well as the conversion from No. 6 fuel oil to No. 2 fuel oil or natural gas.
