Project Description
Hurricane Sandy caused flood waters at PS 195K to a level approximately six (6) feet above grade, damaging the Boiler Plant. This project included replacement of all mechanical and electrical equipment, including two (2) 135 Boiler Horsepower low pressure steam boilers, pumps, sump pumps, domestic water heater, fire alarm, air compressor and pneumatic climate controls. The work included a new low pressure gas service with gas booster pumps to increase the pressure. A new rooftop gas generator was designed to provide backup power. The building was dry-floodproofed by sealing all openings below the design flood elevation and providing flood barrier panels on windows and doors.
