Project Description

Good Samaritan Hospital sought the expertise of Bladykas Engineering to address the persisting issue of high relative humidity in their Operating Rooms. Our solution included the integration of a desiccant dehumidification Air Handling Unit (AHU) to pre-treat the air channeled into the existing AH-5, which serves the Operating Room suite. The return fan of AH-5 was removed, and the entire system’s return air was rerouted to the rooftop desiccant unit.

The innovative design of the desiccant dehumidification AHU utilized a combination of split Direct Expansion (DX) cooling and steam regeneration. This strategic approach was instrumental in achieving the desired low temperature and optimal space relative humidity within the Operating Rooms, thereby resolving the humidity issue effectively.
